I have been composing electronic and computer music since '93, and playing the piano for much longer, so the result I strive to achieve is a style combining the best of two realms: The beauty of modern synth sounds and the perfection of classical forms. My accomplishments up to date are presented on this page, from demo samples of the latest works written on the Roland XP-80 synthesizer to MIDI files, tracker modules, game soundtracks and more. Many thanks to all the wonderful people who enjoyed my music and let me know so. If you have any comments, feel like criticizing, or want to show me your own handiwork, do tell me so too! About the Play / Download buttons: "Play-it"s are links to uncompressed files that can be played with a plugin - recommended player for MP3 and XM files is WinAmp and for MIDI files LiveUpdate Crescendo. "Download-it"s get you the same files ZIPped up. All music on this page Copyright Matej Hrovat 1995-1998

AUDIO CLIPS
Here are excerpts from the very best: My latest synth works in MPEG Layer 3 format. Sound quality: 16-bit Stereo 22050 Hz. Harmony Horizons Synth Suite No. 1 in five movements, covering five very different musical styles. The common thread is the melody phrase that appears as the lead in second and fourth parts, and as countermelody or background in the others. Part 1: OVERTURE [338k MPEG 3, 48 seconds]
Part 2: RONDO [305k MPEG 3, 44 seconds]
Part 3: HORNPIPE Part 4: INTERMEZZO Part 5: FINALE Flight of the Last Dragon [200k MPEG 3, 29 seconds]
Snowflakes [321k MPEG 3, 46 seconds]
Prelude No. 2 [342k MPEG 3, 49 seconds]
Ballad [375k MPEG 3, 54 seconds]

General MIDI Files The Call of Artemis The reason that there are not many GM files on this page is that when you finally have a good synth, the time to do them is hard to find... but fortunately not impossible. : ) [44k / 8k ZIP-compressed]

Roland GS MIDI Files Here are files written with my former artillery, the Roland E-36 synthesizer. They don't sound too bad on SB AWE 32, but a Roland GS compatible gadget is recommended, preferably an E-series synth. Endless Moment (part 3) Third movement from the "Endless Moment" synth sonata. [93k / 22k ZIP-compressed]
Piano Sonata in C Major (part 1) A big piano project started back in '93, but first part of first movement is all that was MIDIfied so far. Piano solo! A MIDI device with a really good piano sound is recommended. [8k / 5k ZIP-compressed]
Cube One The very first E-36 song. [28k / 9k ZIP-compressed]
Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in e minor Another classical form with modern sounds. [42k / 16k ZIP-compressed]

FastTracker 2 (.XM) Files Forbidden Universe So even the tekkno-freaks don't leave empty-handed. Does NOT work well with Cubic Player and other programs using hardware mixing - seems the high freq's get cut off too soon. Switch it off or use FT2. [608k / 233k ZIP-compressed]
SilverFlash Simple but cool. [423k / 169k ZIP-compressed]
